The Biennial Lecture Series is an international technology public lecture attracting the best minds from Nigeria to discuss solutions for advancment.
Since 2006, The Federal University of Technology Owerri (FUTO) Alumni Association, has been organizing this public lecture with the theme: “Nigeria’s quest for development – the technological fast tracking”. This year’s lecture is the 6th in series. The first edition held in 2006 on the topic “Power and Development in Nigeria: seeking that workable solution” was delivered by Prof. Bart Nnaji under the distinguished Chairmanship of Prof. Dora Akunyili of blessed memory.

The Biennial lecture Series is a key part of the ‘public face’ of the FUTO Alumni Association. The purpose is to position FUTO Alumni Association and the University at the center of debate in all areas of Technology.
This lectures aim to enhance the School’s reputation for intellectual, challenging ideas and discussion with a broader public audience.
The majority of events consist of a talk given by a main speaker (to be introduced by a chairperson), followed by a question and answer session involving questions from the audience. These interactions are integral to the events.
The Biennial lecture Series are open to all, including to the media whose attendance is important to the objective of raising the profile of the biennial lecture. Media representatives are not only welcomed at events but also allowed to take part in the Q&A. Press enquiries can be handled with members and the speakers.
